What Daniel has been up to...

Well, for lack of blogs in July I thought I would fill you guys in on how Daniel is doing. I need to do a blog on my awesome week at VBS last week but the task is daunting with all that went on during the week and all the pics I took.

Daniel has enjoyed fixing up the two homes we have lived in. Our first home was in Murray Hill and was in great need of updates and remodeling. It was a tiny 2 bedroom, 1 bath but it was perfect for the "3 of us" lol. We had fun working on it together and turning it to our home.

Even after we had Kaylee we were prepared to stay in our 2/1 for a couple more years but the Lord had a blessing in store for us. Six months after Kaylee was born while at church a couple asked us if we knew anyone looking for a new home. They told us it was a 3/2 and they were going to sale it themselves. Daniel said it was worth looking at for ourselves. We walked through with the owners, Daniel was very confident that we would buy the home; he didn't even open a closet or look at the tubs/showers!! It was defiantly a lesson in faith and submission on my part.

Daniel was able to put some of the finishing touches on our first home and we were able to sell it and purchace our second home in 30 days! The Lord was in it! We were even able to keep the extra corner lot beside our home in Murray Hill.

Nathan helps daddy after dinner with his project scheduling

Daniel has finally settled in on a job at Elkins Constructors. He has been there now for well over 2 years and he loves what he does. He graduated from UNF with his civil engineering degree in 2004 but decided he found building construction to be what he wanted for now. He has worked as an Assistant Project Manager on 2 completed projects; a 58 unit condo at jax beach and a office complex over off JTB. He is currently working on a commercial building out at Nocatee in St Johns County. Below is a slide show of his first completed project, Peir Point.

HEAVY EQUIPMENT

Nathan has quite a collection of heavy equipment. For christmas my inlaws got him a 'John Deer' power loading tractor with a rear trailer; we keep that at our house. Kaylee has found the rear trailer to be quite a fun ride. Then, my parents have a Bob the Builder Scoop at their house along with a John Deer pedal pushing tractor. For a 3 year old, Nathan really manuevers well on them. He zooms around the trees, cars and KAYLEE all through the yard.
Nathan's yellow scoop actually proves to be helpful with yard work. Last labor day we helped our parents with some yard work and Nathan had fun scooping up/dumping leaves. Here are some pictures I have gotten along the way.

Kaylee says, "Sure, he gets to drive the equipment while I do the manual labor."

Slides, Shamu and Springs

Last Sunday after church we headed to orlando with my parents for a 3 day get a way! My dad works at the Florida Baptist Convention and he was able to get us pretty cheap "room and board" at beautiful......Lake Yale! No, we didn't stay in cabins; we got to stay in Dr. Sullivan's Suite. :) He was gracious to let us stay there. Sunday afternoon the children had fun exploring Lake Yale

AQUATICA
Monday morning my dad, daniel, nathan and myself headed to Aquatica, Sea World's new Waterpark. We got there at 10 am and didn't leave the park until after 8! Nathan had a blast. He rode most of the slides with Buddy *2 person floats* I wasn't confident enough to take him down by myself. Nathan was right at 42 inches tall which allowed him to do all the slides. He didn't mind waiting in lines and was ready to go up again after ever slide. We even enjoyed playing with nathan on the kid's island!

SEA WORLD

Tuesday we headed to Sea World with Kaylee and my mom in tow. I always enjoy Sea World, even the shows. It now has one rollercoaster which is actually pretty good. We got there when it opened and didn't leave until the fireworks show at 10:00. The kids were so good and really made the trip for all of us!

Kaylee's Polar Bear expression - She loved the play polar bear den

SILVER SPRINGS

Finally, on wednesday we met up with some other family members at silver springs. Daniel was not able to take wednesday off so he missed out on this fun adventure. I enjoyed silver springs. It was just good old fun! The kids actually got to hold an alligator. Kaylee looks kinda scared in her pic but she really wanted to and wasn't scared at all. My favorite thing about silver springs is the good ole glass bottom boats. I loved being on the boat with everyone while we coasted down the beautiful silver river. It truly was nature's theme park.

Coming Soon

Whew, what a week. We just got back today from a little vacation. We had a great time visiting aquatica, seaworld and silver springs with my mom and dad. I don't know if I am ever going to recover. I can't wait to do a blog all about it. For now, I have to unpack/clean the house then go run the bridges and make it to orchestra at 7:00!

my dad and one of nascar's biggest wrecks (1979)

Here is a video of my dad in a big NASCAR wreck. It happens fast but my dad is 19 seconds into the video going up on two wheels in a yellow race car. This is the second time I have seen this clip; the first time was on an ABC nascar special. We tried to get copies but they said the clip was copyrights of ABC. Don't know how it got on youtube but I am glad to have it...

Nathan and Buddy

As many of you know my children call my dad Buddy. My dad is called Buddy by all and it is what he wanted to be called by his grandkids. Nathan and 'Buddy' have one of the sweetest relationships and they have so much fun together.

Recently, my dad purchased an old race car and fixed it up. Since he has finished fixin it up he has been racing it here and there on dirt tracks. My dad used to race nascar and has some pretty interesting stories from his days on the track. He stopped racing when I was born *he had found something worth living for* J/K. But, how else do you explain it :P

My dad let Nathan know that the new race car was Nathan's Car and if you go out to my dad's house Nathan will take you out to the garage and show you his racecar! Here are some cute pictures of Nathan and his racecar! The first couple of pictures are before the paint job.
