dipping the house in chocolate

Well, not the whole house but it sure felt like it! Considering this was my first year making chocolate dipped treats, i say it was a success. I really enjoyed making them...and 'ahh hum' eating them!!! It is a toss up between the white chocolate dipped cherries and the white chocolate glazed cut-out sugar cookies for my favorite item made. The only thing that might have made my experience easier would have been knowing that to let the chocolates harden you can put them in the fridge for like 5 minutes. After that they are done, won't melt when you take them out and keep well until you give them away. I was up till after 3:00 checking to see if they were all hardened, gave up and feel asleep. I ended up putting the goodies in their bags/tins the next day. My chocolate dipping expert (cousin) told me the fridge tip after my first evening doing them, the day of christmas I was able to make some pretzels and put them in the fridge....so much easier. Nathan and Kaylee enjoyed sprinkling the chocolate on the treats out of a ziplock bag! Just fill the bag with some warm chocolate and cut a corner Can't wait to make the sugar cookies again this valentines day. Cut the cookies into hearts, glaze over top with thin layer of white chocolate and then decorate with sprinkles - - Delicious! .

Here is the PERFECT chocolate making/dipping tip. Temper your chocolate. If you temper your chocolate it hardens PERFECTLY at room temperature in 5-10 minutes.

You can buy a tempering unit which takes out all the guess work. You can buy one from amazon.com, ebay, or from Dove Chocolate Discoveries (aka ME!)
